We are so excited to share that on last Wednesday, mid March 2024 Willow had a brand new litter of Norwegian Elkhound pups. She has 1 female and six males.

All fat and happy, doing great!

This is the Karu and Willow litter of 2024, we have had previous pups from this pairing and they have been so awesome. What an incredible genetic combination.

These pups are over with our fabulous co-breeders, Wendy and Dale, they live in the beautiful Creston Valley. Awesome location for these incredible pups to grow and develop.

We are excited for the folks getting these pups and if you are interested please reach out to me right away.

What a fantastic thing for the Norwegian Elkhound breed. These are incredible rascals!

Karu - Norwegian Elkhound StudKaru - Norwegian Elkhound Sire

This is our phenomenal outcross import sire Karu. An amazing Norwegian Elkhound we imported from Finland. Karu is a working bloodline from Champion hunting Norwegian Elkhounds. He brings an incredible amount of hunting instinct into North America through our working bloodlines and this is the first time this genetic has left Finland.

Learn all the details on Karu our Norwegian Elkhound sire.

We have already seen the amazing results of using this particular sire on Willow as she combines with Karu so well. This is going to be once again, pups of the highest quality.

Inga - Daughter of Willow and Karu - Previous Litter

Inga Norwegian Elkhound FemaleInga and Michelle pose here on one of the daily excursions and walks they get on. Inga is a tremendous companion for Michelle and Roger.

I get to hear from them often, they have tons of stories and great things to say about Inga.

Inga like all the Willow pups is a very loving and caring Elkhound, yet she can look after them and alert them to all sorts of things on the walks and hikes in deeper timber.

Inga is a flawless example of a perfect Norwegian Elkhound female.

Michelle and Roger have given her such an awesome life and keep her in great shape, she gets tons of excercise, lots of love and fun times.

*Roger and Inga - Best Pals Roger and Inga - Best Pals*

This is so great to see. Inga and Roger have a great bond. They go hiking all the time. Roger is a very active hiker and Inga just loves to go along. Michelle and Roger are the best couple for a great active female like Inga.

Inga is a stunning beauty, there is no doubt the genetics of the fabulous female are of the elite Norwegian Elkhounds.

Willow her famous mother comes from a long line of the very best in the world and combining that background with the Rock Star Karu, Wow, you get these incredible dogs.

We have a litter coming in the spring of 2024 from Willow and Karu, they will be just like the stunning Inga

Be sure to reach out to us about them.

Inga is a 5th Generation Pup For Kamia Kennels

Great pups like Inga have a strong background here at Kamia Kennels, all of the Willow pups are 5th generation pups. They are also some of the oldest known genetic lineages of the Norwegian Elkhounds. We are proud to highlight the beauty of this Willow and Karu genetic.

Inga - 5th Generation of Norwegian Elkhounds Roger and Michelle " Hi Merv, typical week for Inga. On one hike we met a man who used to breed Elkhounds. He said she was the most beautiful he had ever seen and asked to take her photo. A couple days later Roger and Inga were sitting outside at the grocery while I shopped. A woman stopped her car and go out to meet Inga and find out where we got her. Two days later on a walk, a woman stopped me. I had no idea who she was. She said, Oh, it you and that beautiful dog. I took a photo of her last time we met and I sent it to my father, her ears are like velvet. I think she hears the word beautiful nearly every day."

I can relate to that, Inga is one of the most striking, she has the Silver/Black color pattern, absolutely one of my favorite color patterns and found only in the ancient lineage Elkhounds, a female like this is something to see no doubt!

Bram - Norwegian Elkhound Sire - Grandfather of Willow  Bram, Norwegian Elkhound Male

.

Bram: An outstanding male Norwegian Elkhound, Father of Tika, Grandfather to Sage, Willow, Aspen and Cedar.

Bram is first generation in Canada with his background all out of Norway, this is an extremely good Elkhound. We have been blessed to have his genetics in our program. Cathy and Blaine have raised an incredible male and keep Bram in top shape all the time.

Kjekk Norwegian Elkhound Male NorwayKjekk - Norwegian Elkhound Male - One of Willow'ss ancestors a few generations back

Willow's ancestors a few generations back of course are a very capable and rugged set of dogs, all true hunting dogs, and many Champion hunting dogs. The big fella to the left is RM Kjekk, a Champion hunting Norwegian Male over in Norway. Her ancestors are true working dogs, they range, hike, hunt and protect. Yet they can win show after show as well. Kjekk is a perfect example of a working Norwegian Elkhound male in his element. RM Kjekk is a very unique hunting Champion as he is a "NORDIC CHAMPION". He has won a Championship in 3 out of 5 Scandinavian Countries. A remarkable achievement!

Tika - Norwegian Elkhound Female - Mother of Willow

Tika Norwegian ElkhoundIts definitely not hard to see the genetics and traits carry forward strong and true in this ancient lineage. Tika has the pure old world stance, confirmation and capability as all her ancestors shown here with her.

She is an amazing representation of all the very best of Norwegian Elkhounds going back centuries. Genetics of this quality are so precise in transfer of style and looks but more importantly, the character and instinctive traits.

Tika Norwegian ElkhoundInstinctive traits are very important for us as a preservation breeder. Genetic transfer of these abilities in this line are what it is known for.

The famous Kjekk shown above her was a testament to this capability as well. His father is the legendary Mini G, who also was a "Nordic Champion". The true measure of great Norwegian Elkhounds has always been the ability to pass down all the old world traits.

This is evident in this line, generation after generation!

Tora - Grandmother of Willow and Takoda Great Grandfather of Willow

Tora and Takoda - Norwegian ElkhoundsAs far as phenomenal male Norwegian Elkhounds go, you would not come across a better speciman than Tora and her dad Takoda. I took this photo on Tora's 10th birthday, we had a great hike in the high country.

Tora was a total powerhouse female. She was a full instinct rich female and was infused with the handler focus from her famous father Takoda.

There is nothing like hiking remote terrain with two full instinct rich genetically connected Elkhound, nothing like it at all.

Loki and TeslaThis is Loki and Tesla

We are so excited to share this story with you about one of Willow and Karu's pups, Loki, the one on the left and his much older side kick and mentor, Tesla.

Eric and Julia and family came to us for a great Elkhound many years ago, I suppose it's 12 or more now. Tesla is a full sibling to Tora, who is the mother to Tika, which is Willow's mom. So it's very fitting that Loki is getting mentored by such an amazing old fella.

Eric and Julia have always stayed in touch and have tons of great things to say on Tesla and now of course, Loki. I am proud to showcase these magnficient males.

Hats off to Eric and Julia and the kids for taking such great care of these dogs. They get the best life ever.

We will be posting a lot more on these two amazing Norwegian Elkhounds in the future and it's great pups just like these boys that are coming soon in the new litter from Willow and Karu.

These my friends, These are Elkhounds!

Below you will find a video of three of the pups from Willow and Sage. Both of these sisters were bred to Karu at the same time, I have them out in the mountains with 3 mature Elkhounds! These 3 pups are all Grandpups of Tika and Bram.

Below you will find a video of Tika, mother to Willow I did quite a few years ago. She was in her prime at that time. Her half sisters Tekla and Tuva are in it and some of our other great dogs. Enjoy!

This photo is from when they were about 11 months old, amazing full instinct dogs, total Rock Stars and incredible companions for Catherine and Mike. We will be posting more on these two soon. That Karu bloodline mated to Willow, and or Sage is incredible.

Shaw - Son of Willow and Karu

Shaw Son of Willow and Karu
Elliot sent me a great update on Shaw and her regularly stays in touch. He has a stunning male from Willow and Karu!

Shaw - Son of Karu and Willow
"Hi Merv, just a quick note - Shaw has grown into such an amazing young Elkhound...he and I spend a few hours each morning on the beach. We are heading back to MT this weekend for a few months, so he'll get back to the snow.

Bram Norwegian Elkhound

Bram is the spectacular father of Tika. He is a full instinct working Norwegian Elkhound and has some of the very elite of the Norway dogs in his background.

Mia - Great Grandmother to Rita
Rita's Great Grandmother Mia is shown here many years ago. This is the litter Grandmother Tora was from, you can see her in the image. Tora was the mother of Kai. You can see the prolific nature of this genetic, there are ten in that litter.
Remote Terrain Norwegian Elkhounds

This particular genetic of Aspen I have spent decades hiking remote terrain with. In my opinion this is the very best remote terrain dog in the world, and the very best genetic for this work. I have hiked thousands of miles with generations of adult Elkhounds and hiked with hundreds of pups in remote regions of this genetic.
