"Lexi, female Norwegian Elkhound approaching 10
months, with owner Lynn Bowes, and Mia, mother to Lexi, Norwegian
Elkhound female approaching 3 years,
- Lynn stopped in the other day while traveling back
home and we had an excellent visit with her and Lexi, a beautiful
female Elkhound, out of Mia and Takoda and the first female from
Mia. She is turning into a magnificent example of the combination of
genetics between Mia and Takoda.
Lexi is very well mannered and extremely nice to be around,
Lynn and Lawrence have done an incredible job with her. She is a
very powerful well balanced young female, she is already about 1"
taller and 1" longer than Mia, she has maintained her dark color and
has a terrific coat with some very nice markings, a truly striking
dog.

"Female Elkhound - alert, well balanced, great
confirmation,
- here Lexi is watching Duke, our Gelding, she stands
alert, she is thick in the chest, lots of capacity, she has strong
limbs, Lynn talked a lot about how easy it is for her to jump up on
decks, quads, trucks, like it was nothing, she is a bit protective
just like Takoda, no fear in her, she has a great face, black
muzzle, with a great set of teeth, Lynn is giving her a good variety
of raw bones to chew.
The female Elkhounds normally stand around that 20 - 21 inch
mark, Lexi is right in there, she might mature out just over the 21"
but Takoda will give her slightly more length and height. She is
perfectly balanced with a great curl in her tail, very good set of
ears and so alert and friendly, just a great dog to be around.

"Lynn has a terrific traveling companion in Lexi,
- Lynn shared with us how she is able to travel all
over with Lexi, she was always a good traveling dog, even from the
first time she went home with Lynn, but now Lynn states its just a
breeze, they go camping, visiting friends, out to the lake, anywhere
they like and Lexi is always along and a great companion to travel
with, she jumps in the Ranger, or the Truck in seconds and when she
arrives where they are headed is well behaved and has been well
trained in obedience.
The training was evident when Lexi arrived, she was quiet,
well mannered and met both Tora, her sister, and re-introduced
herself to Mia without a hitch. Jay, my son and I were very
impressed with her.

"Tora meets Lexi,
- Lynn and I watched while Lexi and Tora had a chance
to get acquainted, Tora is a female from Mia and Takoda as well, she
is from the second litter. Tora was a little protective of her space
to begin with, however Lexi was relaxed and calm, and sure enough in
a few minutes Tora and Lexi were best friends, considering they were
sisters and all.
There is very little difference between these two, very easy
to see they have the same parents, Lexi is still a bit darker,
however Tora has almost all the exact same features. We will have to
do some work to have Tora as pleasant, social, and well behaved as
Lexi though, considering she is spending almost all her time right
now with Takoda, she is learning a few of his protection and guard
styles, but we plan on socializing her just like Lynn has done, and
hope to do as good a job as well as Lexi is an excellent example.

"Lexi, Tora, and Mia, Female Elkhounds,
- Lynn, Jay, and I had quite the time trying to
get this group of Elkhounds to sit for a second or so to get a photo
shoot of Mia, far right, the mother of both Lexi far left, and Tora
center. We came pretty close though, and I have to thank Lynn for
her patience and her kindness to drop in and see us, she knew I was
excited to get these photo's with Lexi, Mia and Tora. Jay was
manning the camera most of the morning.
There is no doubt to us that Elkhounds are the best choice as
a family companion, it's clear when you see a bond like Lexi and
Lynn and Lawrence have. Lynn could just give a quick whistle and no
matter where Lexi was, she came right over.

"Lexi and Jay,
- Lexi remembered Jay with no trouble, Lexi was a
favorite for Jay and Ashten both, as she was the only female in the
first litter, and she was dark so she always stood out, especially
born in the winter. Jay is a great dog handler, he and Mia are very
close, she sticks with him more than anyone and he really enjoyed
visiting with Lexi, she has a lot of Mia's characteristics and
reminded us of her in many ways, although there sure were some times
we could see Takoda coming through though as well, it was pretty
neat.
This is a terrific breed, and when you see quality dogs like
Lexi you fully appreciate why the Elkhound is such an ancient breed.
Our sincere thanks to Lynn for coming by, and also to both her and
Lawrence for providing such a quality home and environment, and
training and care and attention to Lexi, it's a pleasure to see.
